Hello everyone, new user here. Got a 84 regal about a year or so ago and so far ive redone the headliner, the carpet, the weatherstripping and emoved the vinyl roof and took the chrome trim off. I also upgraded to a tci 3-speed street rodder transmission and i recently upgraded from a chevy 350 to a different chevy with a .030 bore, flat top pistons and camshaft. I also have a 850 cfm chokeless carb thats on it. Im told that a 3 inch exhaust wont fit with the stock cross member and it also wont fit up over the rear axle because of the tight bend radius? Is there any truth to this, if so whats the best route to take to make sure im not choking out the engine. I currently have a 2 1/4 exhaust but am looking to upgrade for a better sound and possibky 10 to 15 hp from the new exhaust. Thanks.

I run 2.5 inch pipes on both sides of the upgraded chevy SB and its more than enough for my streetcruiser. 3inch is only worth a shot if you aim for engines with large displacement with high revs...

It really depends on the current 2.25" system. If you have standard kinked tubing with restrictive mufflers (*cough* Blowmasters *cough*), then, yes, a mandrel bent 2.5" with straight through mufflers will be an improvement.

Mr 565bbchevy runs a 4" over his 9" rear....
