F41 and aftermarket bracing diagrams (MORE pics added)

I ordered my front braces years ago for postons. they are bigger then stock but a one peice thing would work alot better maybe a up grade is in the future for my cutlass.

Great job Shotgun. I have done several of these to both my GN & 442 and most are inexpensive and can be done by anybody. But keep in mind guys for handling etc they are support and secondary to sway bars, new better (cheap) poly end links, better shocks such as Edelbrock ISAs or Billensteins, firmer springs such as Moog 5658s (cheap, & for street car) rims such as 15x7s (factory performance) or better over cheap factory 14x6s and better wider lower profile tires such as 235/60/15s (factory performance height) over stock 195/75/14s.

is there anyway to make your own rear seat braces? anyone done that, is that something i can mess up if done wrong?

Well... you probably can't mess that one up so long as you don't cut out the factory braces that are already there. I want to find a GP and cut the rear seat braces out for my car, then fire up my neighbor's MIG and weld them in.

i wont be the one doing the welding, but yeah, ill show the guy what it looks like and see if can do it.

Most of the GN/Buick vendors sell them and they are reasonably priced. Almost not worth the time to gather the supplies and make them. Kirban's has them. On www.turbobuicks.com they have a vendors list with links.

though i would post my expriance both cars had the F-41 suspention option

my 82 GP diesel had the "J" bars and the "GP" bar. it also had the #3 and #5 bushings with bolts!!!. it did not have the back seat cross braces though or the rad but the front clip was replaced after rear ending another car. it had the center of the fender to the rad under good bars

my 85 MCCL 4.3L V6 had the "GP" bar but not the "J" bars. it din not have the #3 or #5 bushings. it did have the rear seat cross brases and the rad cross. it did not have any under hood bracing

just though i would post up the diffrenses in the 2 cars

I had a Diesel 1984 Cutlass Calais that I cut up and it also had the #3 and #5 bushings with bolts as well, I thought that it was odd. I am not sure why they would have them, I'm guessing that Diesel is heavier than gasoline and the extra weight from the tank at the rear of the car would cause more body torsion turning turns since the tank is connected to the body and not the frame???
