I know I'm probably being a little redundant but is there anything that will help with a straighter launch. I'm really more concerned as of now with just being able to control the car and keep it straight. So, I'm basically asking if there are any other upgrades besides a rear sway bar to achieve a straighter and in the end more controlled launch?

Thanks again and again

Airbags in the rear coils springs. You can use these to preload the springs so you come off the line straighter. You could go over to MalibuRacing.com forum as there are a lot more guys there who are drag oriented.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'm going to be looking for a rear sway bar from a monte ss. I don't really want to spend too much money on it if I can get a used one from a monte ss.

Additionally, I've taken into consideration the frame braces that connect the ends of the frame rails. Being that I have access to essentially an endless number of tools, I may attempt to fabricate a set of them. I'll let yall know how it goes.

After considering several opinions, I think I'm gonna go with getting tubular upper and lower control arms and go with poly on the rear and rubber on the frame side.

If any of you has anything to add or correct, feel free.

Thanks again for all the advice. I'm just a kid, how am I supposed to know any of this?

Oh and on a random tangent, do you recommend buying the Haynes Repair Manual for 70-88 Monte Carlos? I ask because I thought it might contain very useful information were I to attempt any body work.

Yes on the Haynes manual. And for buying a rear sway from a Monte ss will work. But it doesn't have to be a Monte ss, any g-body with a rear sway bar. I got mine from a Cutlass at a salvage yard for 50 bucks.

same here except mine came from a 79 turbo regal and I got it and all the hardware for 25 bucks 😀
