I know that it isn't rocket science to remove the rear, but any things/tricks/shortcuts anyone know of to help me speed along getting the thing out of the car? I've never done it, but have worked on most of the parts, and am mechanically sound. I just want to get that thing out as fast/easy as I can, with the time I have...got to drive about an hour to work on it.....

fastest way is with a sawsall to cut the uppers and lowers in half...that is unless you have a plasma cutter...and if you don't want to take that route then you can try to remove the bolts on the lowers and uppers...

Well, what too say someone didnt swap covers.

Easy ways to tell 8.2.
Does it have fangs like a 7.5 or blocks like a 8.5. 8.2s came in either style. No 8.5 came with fangs. So you see fangs has to be a 8.2 if your sure it not a 7.5 rear end.

If it has block on the bottom. Now u have to take the cover, get a wrench and see what the size of the ring bolts heads are. 11/16 wrench for 8.5 ......9/16 wrench for 8.2
