I was thinking about this the other day. Did GM ever make a gear reduction mini starter for a 153 tooth flywheel SBC, like in a late model application? I know the later 5.0 Mustangs came with one, but have never heard of one from GM. I am interested in it primarily because of weight, so I don't want to buy an aftermarket one because they cost too much for the 10lbs they take off a car that already starts fine. If there is a junkyard solution though, I am all over it!

I always thought that ford had it, not gm.

If I can find the application they come from, I can get one for $20 at the U pull it. Otherwise, my heavy one works just fine, I can find better ways to spend $109-250 that will improve the car more. My ultimate goal is to remove 200lbs from the nose without removing a single option or comfort item. I also wonder how much weight an aluminum water pump would save?

use the link and go to applications. pick a more recent year and see what you get. probably trucks. then go to autozone and see if they have one, just to confirm the style. you can always tell them "it doesn't look right, i'll come back"

I wonder if the B bodies with LT1's use one as those are pretty common in the U Pull It. I'll have to check next time I go.

+1 on costing a fortune. I had to put one on just so i could clear my headers but yeah worth it if you can find something
