I joined here a few weeks ago. I just bought a 1987 Monte Carlo SS with a new GM crate engine and a whole lot of other goodies. I have to pick it up and waiting for the weather here in the Mid West to break.

Prior to this car I owned several MOPARs, a Fairlane, Nova, Chevelle and another MC SS. I been working on cars professionally for over 40 years and like to think that I know my way around them. But, like they say, there is always more to learn and I am sure I can contribute as well.

The attached photos are of the car I bought put were taken by the guy I bought it from. He put a lot of time, pride and money into it. He is another real car guy.

Forgot, I got a kick out of the "n00b" under my username. Although I am n00b to this forum I have been a member (still am on some) of different forums for probably 20 years. I do know my way around them as far as posting, searching and most importantly, proper etiquette is concerned.

Welcome to this great site... We were all n00bs at one time.

Beauty of an SS you have there! We never get bored of seeing pics.

Welcome to the site. That's a nice looking Monte that you've picked up. Looking forward to seeing some more photos of it, once you have it in your possession.

Welcome aboard!
Looks like you found a nice, clean, well loved Monte. Thanks for sharing the pics.
I'm sure you're anxious to get it home.

I can't wait to get it and I am looking at the travel forecast everyday as I have a 700 mile roundtrip and I don't feel like towing a trailer on slippery roads.

Sometimes it is difficult to buy a car sight unseen but there were a lot of indicators to me that it will be a good one. The seller had the car for almost 5 years and the paint is that old, he put the new engine in, the Dakota gages and a lot of other things. he also took the car on 2 hot Rod power tours and many car shows. Besides that he answered a myriad of questions in writing and send me detailed photos of every area I asked. The car wasn't cheap by any means but I wanted something I don't have to work on for 6 month before I can use it. There are a few things I have to address or want to add:

1. Get the paint flaw fixed in the attached photo.
2. The driver seat needs a new foam pad (looks compressed/worn on the outer bolster.
3. Get the windows tinted.
4. Probably have the SS stripe/decal kit put on when I get the paint flaw fixed.

In the future (like next winter) I might install a B&M Quicksilver shifter since there is a console plate available for a nice. integrated installation. I might go Holley Sniper EFI, first I will see how she acts with the quick Fuel carburetor. I installed the Sniper EFI on my 69 Chevelle and really liked it (except for the noisy in-tank pump).
