Fan switch Help!!

I've had the same problem on several occasions over the years. Check the plug connector over the right side valve cover. I'll bet there's one corroded terminal. Buff up the terminal(s) with either a small file or a small piece of rolled up sandpaper.
It's pretty common on our cars.
I've never had a problem with the resistor or relay even though I replaced both.

We had the same problem from time to time on my son's Malibu...clean up the terminals and it was good to go..

the choke wire is blue and 16 gauge I think
Could be. Mine is Red with no stripe, but my harness has also been butchered. Like lamp cord in places type butchered.

I just remember a couple of summers ago I thought I had a problem with the switch and put a new one in but that did not fix the problem. It turned out to be the other switch that was defective. It wasn't reading the selection properly and would shut down the fan. I could not find a replacement at any of the stores so I got one out of a car at the wreckers...

I finally fix my fan problem today
Everybody thanks
Oooh, oooh, I have had a problem like this before. On the fan motor, there will be a thick Purple wire that powers the fan. This is the B+ to the motor. There is a bare ground strap that goes to the fender as a body ground. Where this bare strap screws to the motor, there is a male spade terminal that has a thick Black wire attached. If this thick Black wire is disconnected, the fan will run in all speeds but high. It could possibly be a coil ground for a high speed relay if there is one equipped.

Check to make sure this wire is connected and the connection point is corrosion free. Hopefully others can chime in with the Black wires exact purpose.
i finally got my fan speed blowing on high
Thanks everybody for y’all help. I splice into that purple wire and ran it to a hot wire that turn off when the car is off .
