FedUp strikes again

I hate hearing stories about how useless people screw up and then run to the union to save them. That is NOT what a union is for. It is there for collective bargaining with the employer, to ensure a fair contract, and then enforce that contract. That is ALL. I know because I was a union steward for many years. Every time an alleged grievant would come to me with his "problem" the first thing I would say is "The union is not here to wipe your butt for you". 9 out of 10 times the "problem" had nothing to do with the contract and was a personal issue. I would remind them they are obligated to give a fair day's work for a fair day's pay. If they weren't willing to do that, then there's the door. BUT, if that 10th time was a contract violation, I would go balls to the wall to make it right. Are there corrupt unions? Sure, like everything else, people are weak and make smelly deals. Then the union gets a bad rap. It is the union's job to police itself and be above reproach. If I was that FedUp guys union rep, I would be all over him to quit screwing up. But that assumes his management even cares about it. Since I never even got a single phone call from FedUp about my missing parcel, I have to think they just don't. Here is a very good explanation of why some people are so stupid. Pretty accurate!!

I have had my worst experience repeatedly with amazon fulfillment. I live in building 11, they keep delivering my boxes to the same apartment number, building 1. It took some time before my USPS mailman told me I had a box there. This is a regular occurrence.
I will say, 99% of the time I ship USPS and I have had the best luck with them, both as the shipper or buyer. Anyone can make a mistake, but amazon fulfillment takes the cake.

Without getting political, let me restate, I've got absolutely nothing against unions, I think they are great organizations that are there to protect your job. The 99% of people who belong/work for/with unions are honest, hardworking people. What makes me angry is when a lazy, belligerent employee intentionally doesn't do their job because of some petty reason like "they don't like their boss" and they know their union will defend them tooth and nail.

I had another employee who I assigned some masonry work to(he had to build a wheelchair ramp in front of our warehouse or otherwise we would be fined for not being ADA compliant), and he outright refused to do it no matter how many times I told him. I couldn't fire him because he was a union worker and I didn't need a lawsuit, but the work needed done, so after two months of the work not being done, I contracted the work out to a subcontractor. When I did this, he filed a grievance against me saying "I was giving his work away". What!? I GAVE YOU the work first and you refused to do it, REMEMBER? Piss or get off the pot.

He lost his case by the way. It was in their contract that I was allowed to hire a subcontractor for jobs over $1000, and actually he got a letter in his file for insubordination over the whole ordeal.
