Filling trim holes... JB Weld?

get yourself a small sheet of 20 gauge metal and drill some holes thru it to practice on. What kind of welder are you using, what wire are you using, is it a shielded flux core or are you using gas. Have you cleaned the paint from the welding area?

Stick the welding wire thru the hole, touching one side. Pull the trigger and move in a circle. Grind the weld down. If you still have a hole, hit it again with the welder.
So you want me to "go in a circle" like following the rim of the hole? That makes sense. I'll try it again this weekend.

Filling small trim holes is the first thing you learn when starting to weld.
I guess I taught myself. This is my first major welding project (yeah I was kinda excited to weld stuff):

I don't know why I didn't realise that was a practice sheet with the holes scattered.... 😳

you'll get it with practice, sheet metal is tricky to weld. The heat can't be too high or you burn the metal and too cold it wont bite and you might want to have a wet rag to cool the weld so the metal won't deform from the heat

Well, I'm not one to disregard overwhelming advice. I'm gonna practice some more this weekend to see if I can get results that I'm happy with.

Another problem with welding them is.. I have surface rust up above the headliner in this car. It's the only rust on the whole car. Somehow condensation or whatnot gets up there. Some welds I'll maybe be able to shoot some primer at, but most of them are not accessible at all on the under side. I hope those welds don't rust out.

are you talking about inside the car on the headliner?. Is it up front cause if it is you can remove the visors and spray whatever your choice of weapon through the opening for the visor into that area...

No, the roof support braces and surface rust on the interior roof too. I don't know if it's due to the acoustic material or the trim holes or what. Fortunately the exterior roof under the vinyl is rust-free

I better do that, I suppose. Before I tear it up any more. I really haven't started yet, due to fixing my kid's car, finishing up the snowmobiles and trailer, etc. Besides, the cold weather just hasn't set in yet. Gotta get some sub-zero weather to really get me hibernating in the garage.
