Filling trim holes... JB Weld?

Sorry guys if this is a pain in the butt for ya. But I found another solution that I settled on.
I was looking through a guy's build photos, and I noticed a lot blue smears on his doors. He told me he uses everglass, or a short-strand reinforced fiberglass. He said he dents the hole in slightly with a hammer and punch, rather than counter sinking the hole. First he said to hit it with some 40-80 grit to give the fiberglass something to hold onto. Then dent the holes in a little. Also clean the holes out with a dremel so they are bare metal. Then sand the 'glass off and skim coat with your favorite body filler..

I tried that method when I didn't have access to a welder and I wasn't keeping the hood anyway. I filled in the holes for the windsplitter and cracks formed at each place I put the fiberglass. The only place that didn't crack was on the header where the emblem was mounted but that's fiberglass anyway, so I'm thinking the expansion and contraction of the metal and fiberglass are different so on a small area like the holes it will always be prone to separating, plus the vibrations don't help

maybe Pontiac hoods are more critical of what you do with them..

or I didn't do it right... 😳

All this time and effort to find a way not to do it right could have been used to practice welding holes shut and have it done right.

Ok, broken record thrown away and i'm off my soapbox

have you thought of brazing the holes?...
I know somebody that tried brazing holes on sheetmetal (body panels), turned out horrible. Lots of heat distortion
