So since we have had our polar vortex and messed up weather I've been buying up parts and getting prepared for spring. I picked up a factory fan shroud and top plate, rear sway bar, factory overflow tank and I ordered my first two rims. I chose vision 143 15x8 with 3.75 backspacing for the rear. I only ordered 2 so I can check if this size clears the front and if so I will order 2 more 15x8. If not these are the rear and I can order 15x7 if I have to. I chose these over the Hurst dazzlers after using the wheel mock ups where you can see what you car look like with different rims. The dazzler gold or black wouldn't look right
I picked up Cooper cobra 255/60-15 for rear and 235/60-15 for front. More picks coming soon.

Permanent Temporary
got one seat in it
Replying to an older post, but it's worth sayin': you only need one seat in a drag car. The rest just slows ya down...

I'm cleaning out the garage to bring the car back from storage to get started on it again and I was throwing out the old rotted carpet and found a tag on it thought I'd share . This was blue carpet and was under the front below the radio.

So I got the car home today. New wheels and tires on. 15x8 on rear and 15x7 on the front. I chickened out and played it safe. Hooked up a battery to do some checks and had headlights, tail lights, turn signals, dome light. Initial test went well since it's been 18 years since power was put to anything. I did have to change a few bulbs. I hooked my fuel pump lines up. Installed the power steering pump and new lines. And wired a Ford starter solenoid up as a remote solenoid and jumped the wires on the starter. Should make it easier with the headers. I finished mounting the radiator and my factory fan shroud and top plate. Now my wait for next Sunday for next free day . Lol
Since this engine isn't running yet, does anybody have any advice on purging the power steering gearbox or is that something that I just need to wait for .

At the beginning of your post, you mentioned wanting info on dying the seats. I have dyed interior parts twice. The first time was vinyl seats and they came out looking great. It was a three part process: Cleaning the seats with their product. Then prepping the vinyl with their prep product. The prep actually made the vinyl soft and if you are not careful you can wipe the "grain" right of the vinyl. Third step was application. If memory serves, you misted the vinyl with the color and then put a full coat on after. It came out looking stock and when I sold the cars a couple of years later, the color on the seats was still good.

The second time was a set of clothe seats. They are much harder to get a good result. See t he link. It is harder than they make it sound. It took me three days to get it right. It is easy to put the dye on too thick in one shot. For clothe, less is better

Clothe seat dye
