Dude this is awesome!!! Keep up the good work. I too am fixing up my first car. I could not bring myself to let it go and I kept it for 10yrs moving from place to place! I look forward to creating a build thread like this!

Been doing a lot more bodywork and priming on the car. I found some more bad spots on the bottom of the doors.
I went ahead and removed the rear bumper cover and damaged chrome bumper face. Cleaned up the rusted crash bar and brushed rust neutralizer on it then a coat of black and got a new goodmark bumper face installed.
I got a couple of runs in the primer but it will get blocked out. I had hoped to prime the whole car at one time and be done but i was getting surface flash rust appearing from the humidity. So priming the roof, rear quarter s and trunk where a priority.
My door and fender had been replace with one off a car that had the chrome trim and the holes had been bondo filled and where popping out so i am going to weld them up and finish the bottoms next time.

Finished up all the bodywork and got the front end primed and layed out my new acc carpet from summit.. after setting in the sun for the day i dropped it in the car and hope to cut the shifter hole and seat/console mounts, and seat belt holes this week.

The carpet set nice in the back floor area but in the front it seems kind of sloppy around the transmission hump under the dash. I hope when i start trimming i can pull it tighter to look better.
I went with the mass backed rubber backing to be closer to oem
One of my grille mounting holes eas stripped out so i wrapped the screw in Teflon tape and filled the hole with jb weld and pushed the screw in and after it set overnight the Teflon let the screw come right out and have great threads again. Just had to sand the excess jb weld off.

So i got almost all of the interior back in. The carpet im not the happiest with , the floor hump is loose and i couldnt pull it tighter because the floor bend is moulded. I used visqueen on the doors to make my own moisture barrior and put the jute insulation in the doors. I also put new inner (ended up riveting on the door panel side) and outer door weatherstrips on the doors and door panel. I have to still do my kick panels, seat track covers. My b pillars are going to wait for paint and headliner install. But it looks good back together. Probably going to leave it like this for a bit and drive it to work some bugs out of it.

One part i didn't have put on yet was the front marker lights. They were faded almost clear but in otherwise good condition.
I found a translucent orange paint called krylon stained glass that looked about the shade of the factory orange front lights. I cleaned them very good and scotchbrited them for adhesion. And put a light dust coat and regular second coat. I came back an hour later and put another coat on to get a little more orange. Much better than the faded clear look.
The paint had to be ordered online as i couldnt find any store that had it in stock and it ran about 16.00 on ebay.

I got my headliner and matching visors in. They were pui brand. My sunroof is not factory so putting in the headliner meant chopping a hole in the brand new headliner. I ordered new clips for the front and rear headliner trim and hoped to reuse the six side ones (that didnt pan out). The visors i didnt like how they were made. The set screw is on the down side on one viser and up side on the other. They also didnt fit the visor shaft very well. When it was finally said and done it looks good and is all in except the side trims. When i went to snap them on i broke two of the side clips. The plastic was too brittle. A member here got me replacement pillar trim and i painted it to match. As soon as i get the new side clips i can put the last two pieces of trim on and get more pics.

I started doing some paint work, i chose blue flame metallic in the crossfire base clear line from napa. Im going to do all my edges and jams this fall hopefully and full paint in the spring. I started doing just the bottom of the trunk lid to make sure i liked the color which was very nice. One thing i did notice is crossfire doesnt provide the coverage as diamont or ppg, it seemed to take a bit more but it was substantially cheaper.

When i do the outside, im going to two tone with the charcoal color to match the wheels from the bodyline down and the 442 stripe dividing them

Some of my friends are telling me im doing this backwards but i want to get tbe car looking good again and driving with what i have then eventually build up some go fast parts for it. I see too many people drag a project out for the go fast parts and they never get to enjoy it for years. I dont know, maybe not having it for all these years changed my way of thinking
