Fishing this year

Nice sturgeon! We went to the Fraser river with my in-laws. I still can't seem to crack the 7' mark but the wife and father-in law managed to catch some 7 Foot plus.

You guys have the big ones there. We know there is a good population of Lake Sturgeon there. I know a guy who caught about a 80 pounder there. Did the death roll once he got it in a snapped his line. He told me a guy from Indian Head comes up every year and catches 100 pound plus Sturgeon and it is a 4 hour fight. There is also potential for 40+ pound Pike and there will be a 20+ pound Walleye world record come out of there or Tobin Lake just above it eventually. Tobin already has the nearly 19 pound world ice fishing record. We are getting a new boat next year and hitting many lakes in the province.

We do saltwater here in NYC. Yes, even Shitty City has good fishing. This is from last summer when my Daughter took me out on the Capt. Lou boat. She nailed a 42 lb Cobia. It took three mates to get this into the boat. One bloody SOB but good eating. IMG_20180816_092412.jpg

No we only have two kinds up here, Bullhead and the ones in the picture, Channel Cats. The 8 to 20 pounders Channel Cats all sit at the bottom of dam just stuffing there face with minnows. Both were caught with jigs, their stomachs were loaded with minnows. They have nice firm white meat that tastes like chicken. A couple of years ago my wife caught two, over 19 pound Pike there as well.
Cool. A bit different from ours down here but awesome nonetheless. I know all about their culinary delight. We round em up and have a nice fish fry every so often.

I hear it is great fishing there. Our lakes also get a lot of algae blooms due to the surrounding farm land.

It has always been a great place to fish anytime I've been there. My Dad's buddy owns a fishing charter in Port Clinton, we used to go up on his boat and catch walleye for a couple days.

We are from Medicine Hat in Alberta, but living in Lethbridge. The lake sturgeon spawning grounds are about 45 minutes away from me where the Bow and Oldman form the South Saskatchewan river. I have pulled some big Pike, Walleye and Sturgeon out of there. Ive always wanted to do some fishing out in Diefenbaker or Tobin. It would be nice to fish in a province that understands walleye fisheries and how to properly manage them.
There is a lake about 25 minutes away that until recently had the provincial record for Pike @ 42.5 Lbs, Best Ive managed is 17 Lbs out of there.

Very cool. Melville Reservoir is only 2 miles long and maybe 3/4 mile long and 30 feet deep, it is 40 ft deep when full. We along with Wayne Kruzer caught 30, 32 and 34" Walleye three years ago. Also the biggest invader Pike caught last year.

I used to work with Wayne Kruzer's kid at the railroad......... He and I used to go fishing quite often when we were off the board. Dave would always show me pictures of his old man's fish or deer.
Freaking small world.

Wayne fished with us all that fall at the Westend. We fished till Nov 18 that year. Nice guy and caught the biggest Walleye I have ever seen. That picture doesn't do it justice, a monster just under 12 pounds. It is a small world.

I used to go salt water fishing here in Jersey all the time sea bass, black Sea bass, stripers black fish fluke winter flounder weakfish ling whiting eels for the smoker my first job I was 9 I was a deckhand on a lobster boat out of shark river and I brought home all the bycatch. When I was older I got into freshwater trout fishing but due to New Jersey law I can no longer obtain a fishing license and are saltwater rules have become insane so I just stopped fishing I do miss it
