My Wife says the fish expect you to dress up. She is an interesting women, a great sense of humor. She usually wears dress sandals as well. It helps she looks extremely sexy with her girly hips in dresses. Did I mention she is also better looking than her Sister?
Clutch- they have a salt water license in Jersey?!? I didn't think any state did. In NY we have a salt water registry just so they can get an idea how many people are out there. In all the years I've been carrying it I've never been asked to show it even once. Usually they just want to know if I've been drinking.

No just freshwater but the state regulations are out of control and they change pritty much every year. There talking about making a saltwater license mandatory next year I hope to move before then if I can
So I finally took my 5 year old Grand Daughter fishing with her big brother and I. She took right to it and was casting well after a little practice. A slow day, only a small Fluke, small Sea Robin, and a Toad-fish. Right about when we were about to leave I spotted splashes and cast my leadhead w/squid strip at them. Bit the squid clean off, missing the hook and then I knew Blues were there. They had the spearing corraled up against the Canal locks. I rigged up some 007 jigs with green tube tails. They were those foot long snapper Bluefish and they were biting hard. We managed 14 before we left. I would cast and hook it, she would reel it in. So her first fishing trip with Grandpa was a success and she wants to go again.
Sea fishing would be cool, need to make a East or West coast trip. Too bad the ocean is so far from here. The closest spot might be Hudson Bay and roads run out before you get there.

Mass has had Salt Water licenses for a while now, $10. Could be worse. Fresh water is way more and the few times I get to fish per year I gave up going altogether. I fish salt water water exclusively now when I can get out, not very good at it but it’s better than going to work. And heck, if everyone caught fish, they’d have called it Catching! 😉
Edit:apologies, meant to quote Bonnewagon’s post above.
I learned in fresh water as a kid. Nowadays between NY and Penna you need a masters degree to figure out what is legal and when anymore. I stick to salt since I am on Wrong Island. We have 300 miles of coastline and 275 miles of private property. But here in NYC if you can find a spot you are welcome to have at it. I have been fishing the Rockaway beaches forever with good success.
