if you still have all of your factory ac stuff, controls and all then all you need from gbodyparts.com is the $175 box. trust me i have been to his shop and seen them. I have talked to him extensively about it. trust me on that.

or you can do like i did and put it under the knife

They are model specific. Chevy needs chevy box. The main parts interchange but some of the ducting, air vents, and cables pulls are different. I have 2 of them. One in my car and a spare that is a little rough. Check malibu racing. Bought both of mine off of there and didn't pay over $200 for everything plus shipping. Seems like guys in Canada are the ones that have these. Don't need air up there!

That's not entirely true. I swapped one from a cutlass into a regal. :?:

I have one from an El Camino in my 442. 8)
There are some variances in the ducts among the brands, but the rest is plug-n-play.
That is except for the vent cables that mount below the column... As mentioned above they are brand specific.
This is where it's worth the effort to get a correct setup for your car, but that doesn't mean you can't get a little creative if need be. I was able to adapt the chevy-style cables to the original piece from my 442. Sure it's not 100% correct, but I doubt anybody would ever be able to tell unless I pointed it out to them... There's some pics in the link in my sig.
I was fortunate enough to get a complete setup from another Cutlass for my wagon.
I wouldn't pay more than $250-$300 tops for a nice complete non-a/c setup.

I didn't know that, that's good to know. I'm sure cutlass fits into regal but why take the chance?

You are right on the vent cables. But I had a regal and cutlass duct work and box side by side, and they were exactly the same. The black cover near the heater core also comes in two variations with slightly different bolt hole locations. But, If you ever get a full setup for $250-$300, do hollar at me. I'll take one! Any box by itself I have always seen go for $250 all by itself. And this is about 10 times that I have seen em up for sale.

I've got and entire setup from a Cutlass except for the under the steering column cover. Has the box, working blower motor, ducts, controls, short glove glove box, etc. I paid a pretty penny for it, more than the what has been the suggested selling price, but am willing to make a deal. PM me if interested.
