Me too, but I really think I would rather have an EFI 4.3 than this danged old carbed 267

A 4.3 is a 262ci engine so it's almost the same size. I can't really complain too much about mine. It does alright for what it is. It's 30 years old and so far hasn't given me a bit of trouble. It's certainly not fast but it doesn't hold up traffic either. It's a good place holder until I can finally get the Vortec 350 in the car.

That one looks allot like mine. I have all the windows tinted dark and the 15 in rims. The 4.3 properly tuned makes for a great cruising car. Smooth and not bad on gas for a car this age. I am getting 23-24 on the highway and I doubt the V8 would touch that. Prior owner put the after market exhaust with a flow master on mine and it sounds like the S10 above at idle. When running though it is quiet and smooth. I did keep the original hubcaps so that I can revert back.

Oh my god your car is beautiful. As a 2X 4.3 owner I demand more pics, more stories, and an exhaust video on your car. STAT!

Why would you feel bad about that Jared? A nice set of wheels, tinted windows and a good sounding exhaust would only improve an already nice car. The only problem I see with your idea is that it's gonna be hard to ever make that 4.3 sound really good. What that car needs is a V8.

There is a guy here locally known as the 4.3 master. He has this beautiful sounding 86 S10 4.3. It sounds unmistakably like a small block. I He uses headers, like a 490 cfm carb, and H-pipe and flowmasters and it sounds spot on.

i sometimes kick around the idea of getting a 4.3 monte for a dd. i dont see a ton of them left with v6's.

arent they fairly peppy for a v6?

(I'm all over this thread like F)

Answer: No. There aren't. Probably better than my dog *ss 3.7 I5 Colorado, but still not fast. My first car was a 4.3 monte and my current G-body summer car is a 4.3 TBI I converted to a 5.7. It fast and fun but that being said I really would like to land a 4.3 TBI Monte or Camino for the right price and keep it stock to go along with mine. I would do a rear end upgrade from that 2.41 to something peppier and a few simple transmission mods. That would probably make a satisfactory cruiser.

I'm a small block guy myself but owned a astro with a 4.3...spun the rear rubber real good, was pretty fast...think it was a 4:11 tho, and don't forget 4.3 motors ate head gaskets occasionally, but bottom ends are bullet proof...every one I saw here had 250 rounds on it...a buddy had a 4.3 monte he rodded and raced eighth mile...held his own against 307 motors...my fave was the gtp corvettes...blew off v12 jags on the road courses...were powered by a modified twin turbo version of the 4.3... nothing could touch them...take a lot of small block chevy parts too...only thing I remember was the software for the IAC was faulty and they would load up and blow back smoke terrible and run terrible during warm up in cold weather...
