If that were my car I'd change the body bushings cause after all these years they are far overdue to be changed. With the car off the frame it can be repaired properly and boxed if the rest of the frame is in good shape like the op posted. Another thing I would do with the body off is change the fuel and brake lines since it's really easy without the body in the way.

I plan on street driving, but not opposed to a few stoplight affairs lol. I have a pretty beefy motor built for it waiting to go in. What u got in mind?

There really isn't much frame in that area so make sure the repair is sound. Second pic is how I did mine.

100% agree- body bushings aren't nearly as big a deal as everyone makes them out to be, and I'm sure they are overdue. Fuel and brake lines are super easy to do with the body up a foot or two.

Well, unlike Clone, I've always been of the opinion that anything can be fixed. It may not make economical sense to fix it, but it doesn't mean you can't. Hell, my if I had a nickel for everytime someone told me to scrap my Regal because it was too rusty, I'd probably have enough money to buy a Grand National.

However I still agree with Clone that rusted frames can be a safety issue, especially when your dealing with a lot of horsepower. I were you, I'd get a 3 lb mini sledge, beat the hell outta the frame and find out what is good and what isn't. Best case scenario, take it to a frame shop, they weld it up and plate it. Worst case scenario, you have to replace the frame. Rolling G Body chassis's are a dime a dozen. Don't let anyone tell you to 'part it out' or 'find a different project' over some rust. If everyone did that, people would be scrapping these cars left and right.
I agree with the statement that anything could be fixed..... I already talked to a certified welder and he said the same thing. Hes gonna do it as materials only, no labor lol... It pays to know people🙂

At the least you should perform a frame off to see the complete condition of the frame and underside of the body.

Having lived in upstate NY my whole life I feel your pain concerning rust. From the pics you posted I would be surprised if the the frame isnt rotted where the body bushings sit. Mine was and it was from Georgia originally. Matter of fact I'll sell you my old frame which is perfect minus where the body bushings sit. Just need the frame repair washers and you'd be all set. Even had all new poly bushings in the front end. Plattsburgh is only 3 hours from me 🙂 I have family in Massena, Brushton, and St. Regis Falls.
