I have been looking for a malibu from about 79 can't find one. I did find one it was a CAD but didn't have the year.

79 Malibu has the same frame as the rest of the G bodies. As I already posted the frame you have is not a G body frame as it has equal length front upper control arms. Another difference is the G body has 3 bolt head exposed for the steering box, the frame you have only 2 are exposed.

What else do you think it might be I have checked Chevelle but they don't have the big cross member for the springs in the rear.

I have no idea, like I suggested measure it. The internet is filled with specs of frames

what chevelle frame were you looking at?.

Just went out and measured the rear of the frame is 51 inside and the front is 29 inside.

with that picture the upper is a G body upper, I guess the angle the upper was on in the other picture tricked me.. You should check the rear to see if it is a G body, a quick look at how the wheel cylinder is secured. If it's a G body rear there is a ring that holds it in place

I did see the steering gear also had 3 bolts through the frame. Tell me a little more about checking the rear.
