Front Load washing machines - what brand to buy?

After owning a front loader I will say I miss the top loader. Front loaders require more maintenance. They need cleaner ran through them much more often plus you have to have clean out the compound lip door seal as gunk really builds up on those.

I have had just two top loading washers in the 27 years I lived in AZ. The first was a basic washing machine and matching dryer from a big box store. Washing machine lasted 20 years and was replaced because the motor finally wore out. Bought another bare bones 8 cycle, non computer machine. I believe the first machine was an Estate. The new one was from Home Depot and is an Admiral and has worked fine. Still have the original dryer and only needed to replace the wheels around the drum a few years ago and still works like new. I have been very lucky with how long they have lasted.

Gunk does built up on the lip but not terrible. We use the water plus addition to every cycle, it really helps cleaning. I use vinegar often, eliminates smell, boosts cleaning and removes hard water scale. I actually found cleaning better over our dying 10 year old top load machine by a good amount. My biggest complaint is wash time with prewash, water plus and heavy soil cycle, it is about 2 hours.
