Front turn signal problem.

I do not have spare sockets. I probably will need to replace the original sockets as their contacts are pretty corroded.

You think tape would work to plug the socket holes to test for leaks?

Low tech test: Sorry, I have no pictorial guide.
-wipe dish soap all over housing
-plug drain hole with finger
-gently(here is where it gets weird)place lips around socket opening and slightly pressurize the housing by blowing
-watch for bubbles

This procedure is best done on the privacy of your closed garage. This is how I tested for turn signal housing leaks. And yes, I still have all my friends.

Obviously it's leaking somewhere. I like Ed's aporoach to finding the leak. My other idea was to maybe use ballons, or stretch wrap and rubber bands to seal the socket openings. Once you identify the source of the leak, it will be pretty easy to seal with clear silicon.

since you're going to duck it in water I suggest to use duck tape, that'll work for awhile so you can find the leak.

I put duct tape on the housing openings and submerged it in the pool (never thought I be submerging a car part my pool lol). It did not leak, so it must be the sockets or their seals are leaking.

Is it possible the housing is being distorted after installation which exposes a leak.
Maybe the socket is leaking through the channels the wires pass through. If the gasket is intact and you can feel it compress as you tighten the socket that may not be the cause of the leak.

good point, he should install the housing in the car and do the same test in the pool.....😎

Great idea only if you post a video of the submerged car so we can all offer opinions of the problem.

The housing is only held on with two sheet metal screws into speed clips on the bumper, not sure how much it can be distorted by that.

Anybody know of a supplier for new turn signal sockets or should I just pull some from a junkyard?
