I don't think its a generational problem.
My previous generations considered my generation "crazy", and I'm sure their previous generations thought them crazy as well.
I think the Root of the problem lies more with Information Overload.
Think about it... We don't have to go anywhere for 24/7/365 access to information, planet-wide. If it happens on the other side of the planet, we will hear about it in about 10 seconds.
This negates the need for socialization/communication/contact with other people.. people skills aren't learned..
Now, take into consideration that the information being shovelled into our brains is mostly half-truths at best, coupled with a failing education system, and a generation being brought up not capable of failing, and Certainly nothing is their fault, you get...
People who say that you need to accept something, then lose and don't accept the very thing they said you needed to accept.
You get violent racist protestors preaching about peace and equality.
You get people who don't learn from the past, and are doing their best to repeat it.
You get people who have grown so dependent on this misinformation, it could tell them the sky is pink and they would believe it, fight you about it, and unleash a torrent of vitriol hatred at you for pointing up and saying the sky is blue.
You get people attempting to erase history by taking it out of their sight.
Orwell wasn't wrong.
He was too early with the title of the book.
