here’s the thing about that tho. If you actually want to make a living at it you’re gonna have to bust your *ss at it. Sure there’s a few outliers that get all the bucks without, but you’re going to be:
- Having to come up with ideas all the time. New ones
- Some form of planning before you shoot
- Tech know how to run the gear
- Doing “fixer” work if you need permits/permissions etc.
- Lots of time recording
- Lots of time editing
- Dealing with users, comments, and YouTube’s shitty practices
- And then doing all of this multiple times a week bc if you don’t produce it’s not going to happen
Don’t think for second the people that pull off “internet famous” do it by sitting around pointing a phone at themselves once a month. It’s a grind. I’ve got a lot of respect for those who are able to pull it off.
EDIT: and yeah a lot of them are dumbasses and dickheads, but it’s still a grind.
My 11 year old daughter is into something called tick-tock.... Not sure what it's all about, but she's constantly making videos to post and share. Let me tell you this - she has a knack for it. The stuff she's making, with a little editing, could easily be made into a music video or TV ad. And this isn't just a proud Dad talking, when she first wanted to show me a video, I was expecting something, well childish and cute. I think my jaw literally dropped when I saw what she had created. Maybe this is on par with the rest of her age group, but I think she could have a future in something like this.
