Still waiting for an answer as to what these generations mark on society is going to be, other than its sounding like the blame generation
Actually, that's a personal choice. And I'm not talking to keep up with cable TV or the latest phone.
Much like the 1850s, or 1920s, employers only have as much power as you let them. Prior generations fought for the power to unionize and stop workplace abuses. In Europe, at least western/northern europe, in many countries companies can be fined for trying to force you to do work from home/after hours. But here, it's a race to the bottom just rolling over. When you've got 5 24 year olds willing to do that 14hr day for every 1 that says 'no, work the 8-9 hrs and when I leave, I'll look at your email tomorrow' then of course you get what you have. But if employees really hated it, and refused to do it, then guess what? Employers can't fire absolutely everybody and have nobody at work.
So what should I do here, quit doing my job in solidarity of the unions that are most of the reason that I am in this situation in the first place?
You do realize that labor unions no longer are about workplace safety and reasonable pay for work anymore? What they have accomplished in the last 25-30 years is mainly driving the nationwide cost of labor so high that it is no longer profitable to build anything in the US anymore. Then they get surprised Pikachu face when companies want to move their manufacturing to Mexico.
But instead of doing anything to mitigate the problem, they double down and ask for more pay and benefits for people who already make about twice the national average. Sure, the companies manage to give it to them but as part of the deal they need to close another plant or shut down a line to do it. Where do those jobs go? Overseas. I've seen it first hand.
So fu¢k labor unions and the crap-covered dick they rode in on.
I have to work my shitty hours because if I don't, I know damn well somebody that needs this job will take it.
in the GM strike, the company lost money, the suppliers lost money, the employees lost money, the stores where the employees shop lost money but the elite of the union didn't lose a dime
this ^ made my brain hurt,i like popcorn regardless of the subject @hand.you are highlighting the problem of instant gratification with your ready made popcorn...... 🤔
