Getting the F' Outta Dodge.

I resemble that remark, 3 daughters and I'm chopped so no more anything! I still wouldn't trade them for anything. Gotta have a good, manly hobby to offset all the girl stuff. And try and teach them stuff most boys their age won't know anything about (but should).

I am coming to realize that some of the most manly men in history father nothing but daughters. It takes a real man to do that well. I am sure you made them aware of what to expect, and what not to accept, in life.

Natasha calls me a feminist.

Also, another day, another birthday party.

My oldest is 9 today. We are rocking a Pokemon theme... I am going as a Snorlax.

I've partially failed with my niece on this. While she has definitely grown to appreciate "fix it, don't throw it away" and "if they are helpless and can't fix anything or change a tire, they're not men", I've failed to get her interested in working on cars. That's probably because of this disconnect:

My perspective: "I'm glad I'm getting this done. This will buy me some time.
I know it's getting done right and I'm saving money doing it myself".

What she sees: "Uncle Jared is filthy and irritable. His hair is disheveled and he's swearing like a sailor. His hand is bleeding but when dad offered to get him a bandaid, he refused with a growl. This is not for me".

Not only do they get girls, but extra girly girls.

It was once opined that, once married, the sex of one's children was the last genuine decision left solely to the male.

As for your niece, be patient. Her hands on attitude is being obstructed by her gotta be girly guide and until they finish fighting it out for dominance in her mind, you will keep confronting that disconnect.

Snorlax is a huge, bipedal, dark blue-green Pokémon with a cream-colored face, belly, and feet. Its body is composed of mostly its belly, as its limbs are comparatively small. It wakes up only to eat, requiring 900 lbs. (400 kg) of food per day before returning to its slumber. It is not a picky eater, as its strong stomach allows it to eat even moldy food without feeling any ill effects. It can also eat while it is resting. Snorlax is docile enough to let children bounce on its large stomach. Snorlax is considered a disaster whenever it shows up.

I've partially succeeded in that my daughter finally realized there are great clothing deals at Salvation Army. I've also gotten her to realize the advantages of having a fuel-efficient car that is paid off versus her high school friends with expensive new Jeeps. But she still won't work on them.
