Man always hate to hear about the loss of good paying jobs for the [ working man] no matter where they are ! Heard on the news tonight GM going to close 5 plants didnt say where , to focus on electric and antonymous cars . Sounds like B.S. to me .

It sucks. I hate most everything GM makes styling wise, so I haven't bought anything from them in years. Their trucks are nice but not worth 60K for a nicely equipped one or any truck for that matter. My Challenger was built in Brampton, Ontario, being AWD and 40K instead was a no brainer for me.
Why focus on cars they can't sell today but bother on cars that still need development that takes time? Any one ask Uber how that atonymous car program is going since one of their cars killed someone? Focus on affordable quality cars that would pull in customers & dump all that tech B.S. In my rides I don't need a Wi-Fi hot spot, my rides need a fun spot to make me do this. And to make me look just as cheesy.
But, see, you and I aren't "normal", tech savvy, unable to drive,can't use peripheral vision, have no depth perception from too much VR exposure, and don't know how to pump fuel without an app, so the manufacturers don't need to build vehicles for "us".
I cannot help but wonder how much the NAFTA bs played into this as well ? I know our sign manufacturing costs ( raw materials ) have gone up appx 30% in the last year due to the tariffs imposed. It's a Sad Day indeed for those in the 'shwa!
Olds 307, I live 2x stones throws from the Brampton Plant and know a few who work there. They are very proud about the job they do ! My understanding is it's a Flex plant meaning they can roll off a 300 then a Challenger, then a Charger, a Hellcat then a Police Package car one after the other without switching it up.

I feel for the people effected !! Worked for them for 31 years then things went south.
Yeah it always sucks when the ones at the top get a pat on the back while they cut the throats of the people that brought them there ! I never worked for GM but i did build rail cars for about 10 years in the 90,s , when one day we came in and they were giving out pink slips .[ 90 day notice ] only reason they gave that was it was federal law if you were laying off more than 300 ppl at once you had too ! Found out later that they were relocating in MEXICO . Found out about 4 months after plant closing they had over 3 miles of cars on the track the buyers wouldnt purchase ! They couldnt get the doors to open and shut ! LOL . You see that part couldn,t be IDIOT proofed . You had to know how to square the ends of the cars and do some thinking and fabricating on the run ! Something the upper management over looked ! So they started trying to rehire and bring ppl back to get them sold . Our plant was to dispersed. [ AND UNAGREEABLE ] So they brought to plant that was further north of us , where about 75 percent gave them the finger a big F you ! But they coerced enough of them with recall rights and B,S, like that to get them done . but it did turn a 8 wk job into a 6 mo job ! Small cancellation though .
