I'm going to see how well it'll do on these 275/60/15 street tires, i'll be removing the front sway bar, would like to get the car level, but don't want to cut the rear springs, How low should i drop tire pressure on a standard radial, there not DRs?

Its a milder 469 BBC in a 78 cutlass, 3000 stall & 9" with 3.73 gears, car weighs around 3450 with me.

Like a standard street radial?
Tire pressure id start at 15 and see where it goes. But thats with a drag radial. I have no idea on a regular street tire.

Good luck. Have fun and stay safe.

Your converter is probably going to wanna get smacked. So when you launch your car. Foot breaking it. Just being it up a little above idle. Like 1400 or so. And then punch it.

With the torque that thing is going to making on a launch all yer gonna see is alot of smoke and rubber. \\\\grab a set of slicks man yer gonna need em.

X2 on better tires. Even drag radials. Whatever u can find. Traction is going to be your hardest problem.

Yeah, I'm going to try my best, I'll just run it out as hard as possible in 1st. from idle, maybe shift early into 2nd. & try & lay the throttle down, I heard running standard pressure is best with standard "run of the mill" radials.

Good luck, like most others stated, traction will be your big issue. Your gonna spin a bunch, but what the hell go have fun!!! What's the car used for mostly? A good drag radial will certainly help🙂

Like jbreu said. Just go and have fun. Worse case youll get some slips.

A good investment if your goin to hit the track. Get another set of rims. Get some tires. Slicks or radials. Its well worth it.

Had a good time & nothing broke 😀 , Car ran good & for the most part it hooked decent feathering it, I got no tire spin on 2 runs, the other 2 it spun & i let out to get it to re-hook, I had fun, car felt great, started out with 28 lbs. air, dropped it down to 24 lbs., changed jetting a bit on my last run, didn't help MPH at all, On my second run i pulled the air cleaner, same thing, no change, overall it was fairly consistent based on the 60fts. I was pretty easy on it through the 60ft. on all runs, then layed into it after that. The MPH was very consistent, shifted around 55-5600. There using a different prep & man is it working, cars were hooking hard, i'm sure thats why i didn't fry the tires off leaving the line.

1st. pass, 2.0x 60ft., 8.3 @ 86+ 12.7x @ 108+ change
2nd. pass, 2.2x 60ft., 8.5 @ 86+ 12.9x @ 108+ pulled cleaner & spun
3rd. pass, 2.0x 60ft., 8.3 @ 86+ 12.7x @ 108+
4th. pass, 2.3x 60ft., 8.6 @ 86+ 13.03 @ 108+ jetted up front from 72 too 75 & spun

Nice numbers, imagine how it'll do with sticky tires 🙂

Thanks, By the looks of my 1/8 mile ET, they were abit slow for the 1/4 #s, I made up alot of ground in the last 660, My 1000 ft. MPH was 99 on all runs.

I really need tires bad.
