GP Dash into an '83 Malbu Wagon

Isn't it funny how everybody wants a Pontiac dash in their Chevy! That's because Pontiac has a better interior and exterior than the rest of the Gbody's. They should never have ended the Pontiac division, they should have ended Buick instead! No offense to the GN guys but what does Buick have to offer for a sport model today? Nothing! Pontiac was just getting going with the GTO and G6's and G8's. Just my opinion!

I think those who have "borrowed" the GP dash ought to be paying royalties to those of us who own a Grand Prix. They have devalued the true worth of the GP dash by placing it in a car of lower stature and we should be compensated accordingly..

JD,
What are the interior parts in the junkyard 4-dr cars like? Condition, color, etc.
What's left is great shape! Like I said most of what is there is all for the back which is what us Wagon guys need. The two I looked at were Blue interior cars. The other I just saw from a few rows over and didn't look inside. Had to get back home before I got soaked as I was on the Bike. The back seat seatback that was in the Malibu was perfect and so were the doors and panels. I need that dang quarter window assembly. The Olds had most of the interior intact and the front seats were in the trunk but I don't think they went with that car. Maybe that model but they were gray instead of blue. The other one I can't remember what model it was or the shape it was in. I just saw the shape of the car but I think it was an Olds too. They did have quite a few Caprices and Deltas. Thinking seriously about snagging the regulators out of the back of them and the door from a G and see if I can transfer. They did at one time make the back windows roll down part way but stopped, to cut cost is the general consensus. Who knows?

JD...you have to be careful using 4dr sedan rear door stuff on a wagon. The rear doors...or upper frames... are a little taller on the wagon...including the vent windows. Door panels swap of course.

JD,
Kevin's right. Because of the different shaped rear window frames, the doors can't be used on a wagon.
However, an exception can be made by removing the 4-dr window frame and welding in a wagon window frame.

Front doors are interchangeable. The rears are specific to wagon or sedan due to the different window frames.
I'm sorry to say that 4-dr G-bodys never had a rear window that rolled down.

Think you miss understand my intent with the rear doors. I don't have any cutting/welding equipment. I already know about the 4 door rears and I dang sure can't afford a paint job if I tried to swap doors. What I was thinking was snag the regulators and another door just to see if I could make the swap. If I could do it with a junk door then I could do it with the doors on the wagon. Kind of an experiment. Thanks for looking out guys.

That's nice. I just need to find one for the right price. Like I said, collect and scrounge. Slow progress. Just getting it road worthy for now.

Thanks. I hear ya. I got my from the local u-pull-it. I could have had 5 or 6 of these dashboards, crack free. The bezel is a different story. In any case, good luck!
