Grand National Areocoupe

I dont think they realize that the Monte aero decklid is absolutely useless. it's taller than the GN lid because of the GN taillights. The monte has a shorter width wise decklid. you pretty much have to modify a notch back GN/cutlass decklid to fit the application. and that may be the same for the shelf, you may have to fit extentions to fit it in a different car. i put my monte aero decklid "on" a GP trunk opening and it doesnt reat on anything because the GP has a wider trunk opening. Hope that makes sense to someone. I can photoshop a diagram to show you what I mean if neccesary. Not trying to discourage anybody from trying it, just saying its not a drop in application

I retract my previous statement. I just took the time to read through that thread posted. he knows what he's doing. It's in good hands. would love to see the result

I would think the GN guys would love it, one less "stock".

Makes their car worth a arm AND a leg vs just a leg.

I like but like to see it lower and lose the rim/tire package.

Sorry to bring this back up but I searched the internet using the term: Grand National Aerocoupe" and I came up with this topic. If anyone is remotely interested in seeing the progress you can go to my web page.

July 24 2010, Again...not quite finished but getting close. Paint on the side glass fillers is rattle can black. That's why it doesn't match. I will be painting the whole car after I get done with the Aero conversion.

I do plan on removing those Draglites and putting the factory GN rims back on the car. Plus, I will be lowering the car too...it does sit too high.

I wonder how much weight that glass adds to the top end of the car

You will be removing old glass new is not that much heavier , cutting trunk lid to shorten it . Add little sheet metal from donor .

The areo monte I had was almost same weight as my 442.

I'm going to weigh all the stuff before I actually mount all that stuff in the car so I can get an actual difference in weight. I'm willing to guess it's going to add about 80lb. We'll see.

I seen your web page write up. Nice job and I like it! Take your time and do it right. Wish I could do the same to my Cutlass...
