Grundy Application declined. What next?

I guess what bugs me about Grundy is they make you jump through all these hoops in the first place in terms of documentation and photos, and then end up turning you down anyway. Hagerty's application and issuing process was WAY easier. I don't know if Hagerty is the best or not, but their application process was a heck of a lot easier than Grundy, and the policy was a little cheaper, too. I figure at least I've got an active policy so I can get the car registered and driveable. I may change insurers down the road at some point, but this will work for now.

Grundy here. No problem. 15k on my Monte. 15k on my uncle's GMC Typhoon.

and my license history isn't the best lol.

Upon hearing my story, a car friend told me to try American Collectors. This company was a completely different experience. They were eager to insure my car in virtually any potential way I wanted to drive it. Even better, they let me set up a stated value policy for the amount of my choosing (which Haggerty would not do). The rates were also reasonable, so signing up was a no-brainer.

I'd suggest calling them.

Hagerty let me put an agreed value amount in the online application. I put $10,000 for now. Obviously, that will increase substantially once I get all the mods done.

Just got back from the mailbox. Ironic there's my Grundy renewal for next year on the 84 H/O and 87 442. $250 for both cars for the year, as always.

Who knows. I don't want to trash-talk Grundy too much. I'm sure they provide fine service for many of their customers. I guess they just didn't consider my wagon rare or pristine enough to cover. Don't know what Hagerty is like to deal with in terms of claims, but in terms of applying, they're light-years ahead of Grundy in terms of ease-of-use and user-friendliness.

Unfortunately not every old car is valuable. Hagerty up here makes me provide pictures inside and out - with an extensive list of modifications.

Going to be fun re-upping the Monte.

I have hagerty and agreed value of $12000 on my gp and $900 worth of spare parts insured.

Hagerty wanted pics of my wagon and it is by no means beautiful. I insured a 1983 Yamaha too, pics needed. But an agreed-upon-value is what you want. My regular company (Travelers) considered it a 35 year old POS and still wanted to charge me as much as my other cars. Hagerty's towing is a good deal too.

Sounds like wagons may have it the hardest in the G-Body world. I don't know if the G-Body Community (not this website, but overall), values wagons.
