Funny... This thread led me to inquire with Haggerty about insuring my 86 GP. I was declined, and a bit confused.. no record, no tickets, no accidents..

Sounds like wagons may have it the hardest in the G-Body world. I don't know if the G-Body Community (not this website, but overall), values wagons.

By and large, I think most of the interest remains with Grand Nationals, Monte SS’, and to a lesser extent, 442s. There’s some interest in El Caminos. Only us weirdos are into the wagons, it seems. 😛

Greetings Guys; I should of responded sooner, but with no full sized key board (was using a lap top) I wasn't inclined to type much. Anyway I've been with "Heacock Classic" for 20 years. They are part of "American Modern Property & causality". I have a mileage limited policy, full no deductible & stated value. And have only High praise for this company. Over the 20 years I've had three claims a windshield (Bronze Brick), door ding & broken front bumper cover (GuTOo). Few restrictions & if I want to go on Power Tour or exceed the mileage I just call them, no problem. If I plan to exceed the mileage by a bunch they would just put a sur charge on the bill. But when I went on Power tour I only exceeded the mileage a bit & no increase. I only wish that they offered daily driver insurance here. And they do if ya live in Florida. Later Ole' Bob.

Weird. Approval seems kind of arbitrary. I had heard a lot of good things about Grundy, so thought I’d give them a shot. But Hagerty’s online portal seems a lot more sophisticated and streamlined than Grundy’s.

Yep.. after going thru the application process on their website, it basically said that I wasn't eligible. I figured it was because I didnt have a garage to keep it in, or it was a daily driver... or they just didnt care to cover a 86 GP because I put a value of $12k on it... I dunno...

that is cause the wagon owners have their own club that is exclusive to wagon owners, outsiders are not welcome unless you are a billionaire and will give a huge donation....

Give JC Taylor a call. I have had them for 20+ years never an issue Classic and Hot Rod insurance.

Then start a protest against Grundy and march down the streets with an Insurance Card hat on your head.

2 big no-nos for "agreed value collector insurance" AFIIK.

I insured my 78 Trans Am with them.. same place, same conditions..

Checked them out, You have to click.

I agree that my vehicle(s) will be used mainly in exhibitions, club activities, parades and other functions of public interest and will not be used primarily for the transportation of passengers or goods.

Doesn't apply to me.
