I am sure a few that raced it were initially telling themselves "There is no way I am going to loose a race to an electric car"

They used to have a Tesla Maintenance facility a couple doors up from me at work. In talking with one of the techs at the coffee truck I mentioned that I noticed the techs would offload a car from the trailer and blast them around the block before parking them in the yard.
He smiled took me for a blast around the block in one of the Lotus based roadsters. DAMN ! That thing pinned you back in your seat like a big block but with nothing more than a hum and tire squeal. I grew a fondness and appreciation for Tesla cars that day

I just read in stock form this Tesla runs the quarter mile in 10.50 seconds at 125 MPH so I would imagine a gutted one is somewhere in the 9's.

As I’ve said, if I could do an EV conversion for close to the price of an E-Rod with 200-300 mile range, I’d do it in a heartbeat. But we’re a long way from that being the case.
