. I'd like to see where that Telsa is 30 years from now and where are spare parts sold for it.

Most will be in junk yards with the batteries doing more damage to the environment than any gas burning vehicle ever did.

The other 3 or 4 will be in one of our driveways trying to figure out how to hack it now that they are out of business.

The one I drove was owned or leased by the parent company I work for, and someone who didn't know better said I could drive it. Lol. It's crazy the electronics that are in that car especially since it really is a throw away car. We did dome calculations and based on gas prices it was about a 60 year payback roughly. Batteries are good for about 20 years I think according to Tesla.

About once a month there is a thread started here about why to build a g-body, or are g-bodies increasing in value, or are they gaining popularity, etc.

That video defines the 'built vs bought' argument. Which do you prefer? The Tesla kid is proud of the fact that he removed the interior and put in racing seats as the major mod. He acted like a ricer with a fart can as far as I'm concerned. Ask him where he came up with the $140K to buy it, I bet the answer won't be surprising.

I will say that the video identified the value of a track car vs a street car. The nitrous Fox body would've whipped on a prepped track at 10-15% of the cost. AWD, traction control and ABS are amazing systems, but keep in mind that they are illegal in most racing venues - why? Because it turns racing into who has the most money, not who has the fastest car with the best driver. It's kinda like bragging about your fishing skills when you use hand grenades for tackle.

That aside - the Tesla is an amazing piece of engineering and will lead into better things - I'm sure.

Obviously these street racers are just punks anyways, period, I don't care what their age is, dangerous and stupid. No different than the kids in high school with the fastest cars, where I grew up, Daddy bought it for me. AWD with 4 racing slicks an all that torque instantly, no one will touch him, look how he pulled so far away at top end none were even close. There was a little sh*t box electric running 10's at the track I believe, it was also wild. Battery technology will eventually get there for range. Once again, battery cost and our cold winter's will make electric vehicles almost unusable, batteries do not like -40. Major interior heat is needed but so is A/C in Summer as well as down South, those two must shorten battery range so much more. Europe is looking at EV battery change stations, changing batteries within minutes. In small Europe, it could really work and in most Urban North American cities as well, if manufacturer's can agree on battery design and placement, it really could work. In our small population, everything spread way out and -30 to -40 for weeks or months at a time, it may never be practical. But I guarantee it, if your live in major cities, it is coming whether you like it or not.

That kid lives in a different world than the one I live in. I don't hold that against him though. But it's a different world for sure.

FWIW, I've bought two houses, and neither cost that much and the 1st one cost that number - 100K. And it wasn't a fixer upper or project either.

On the other side of the coin the gov does not have the money (our money) to upgrade the electrical grids to handle the recharging of the batteries. It was tested in Toronto that if 10% of a street plugged in their cars to recharge the grid would fail. Another problem is the supply of the products to make the batteries is dwindling so the prices are going up and up....

"Demand for other key battery ingredients, such as graphite and lithium carbonate, is also outstripping supply."
