Has the General become Boring?

I dunno, I think my friend's 6th Gen ZL1 1LE is pretty sweet. Not sure why people aren't buying more Camaros? The Mustang and Challenger have both looked the same for the last 15 or so years so I don't see why the Camaro gets so much crap for it.
Also, wrong.

S550 was a completely new platform in 2015. It was also radically different from the s197.

Problem with camaro is it feels cheap. The plastic dash looks like a 5 year old designed it. The whole car is just kinda off. Then the trunk is this long narrow tunnel. God forbid you ever needed to pit something of any width into it.

It also lacks in color options. Challenger comes in just about any color imaginable through the years. Mustang even changes it up with impact colors. Camaro is.... blah.

When we bought an s550 for the wife we visited the chevrolet dealer first because she (inexplicably) liked the camaro. The salesperson told her if she didn't want one of 7 shades of silver, grey, black,or white, and didn't want to wait for a maroon car to come in she could vinyl wrap her new car for the rest of her ownership. We left, drove across town to ford, and when we saw how many extra options she got for LESS money, she wanted to put down money that night. And we did.

Betting their money that people will buy 10 trash cars that all look alike +/- a few inches in dimension because nothing else is offered.
That has kind of been a GM mainstay for a long time now.

I have noticed Ford is launching or has launched new vehicles that do not look like other items in their line up. The Broncos are clearly different from their other SUV / CUVs. They are launching a truly compact truck with the Maverick. I look at Chevy's web site and all of the CUVs look the same just different sizes. The SUVs are look the same just different lengths. The Camaro has not changed mush visually in years and I cannot count it as a family vehicle. The Malibu is just another mid sized sedan and the Spark needs no explanation. The trucks have become to expensive for a family vehicle. It seems like other than the Corvette they have not produced anything for the regular driver to be excited about.

I used to like Chevrolets. For the longest time all I owned mainly GM vehicles. Then when I needed a van they discontinued their mini van and I bought a Mazda mini van (first foreign brand I ever bought), been a great vehicle. Wife wanted a small fun car, GM has not made one in years, she bought a MINI. I would like a new truck but cannot find anything that is a true improvement over my 2004 Silverado for what I need.

Rant over. Just wondering if when it comes time that rust has eaten my vehicle beyond repair their will be anything I like left to get.
Case in point - purchased a bare bones short bed pickup NEW in 2006 for $13,500. V-6 with five speed. Today - nothing like that is available, and it is way over priced.
You might want to transport a rust free vehicle up from the southwest, use it in the summer, and use the future electric weenie-mobile in the winters.

New platform, they weren't alone. The Camaro downsized for the sixth gen and they still look largely the same as in prior years. I don't see the visual departure like a Fox to SN95 or 3rd to 4th gen.

They have lost their way. They won't sell me anything new. I'll always be a GM guy but it will be old stuff here on out. My 2008 is the newest I will ever own.

It seems like FCA are the only people that even care about what the people want. GM seems to active ignore anybody outside of the Truck and Corvette segments, and Ford is the same way other than dabbling with the Bronco (and that is if you didn't get fooled into buying the Bronco Sport/Escape thing) to complete with the Wrangler.

Fox body was one of the ugliest cars ever. Can't believe they built them as long as they did, but, small body/big engine i guess people will buy ugly (like the camaros post 2002)...

And yes, we've got my stepfathers zl1 out in the garage because it was his... but I think it's been driven once since 2019. It's really not that comfortable or enjoyable compared to anything else we own. If he hadn't bought it as his last car I'd have dumped it long long ago.

GM is content making boring transportation appliances as long as it puts fat stacks of cash in the bank account.

Its a symptom of climate austerity that most corporations are pushing down are throats.
