Has the General become Boring?

Its a symptom of climate austerity that most corporations are pushing down are throats.
Anyone appreciate the irony of the Amazon guilt you into climate change commercials that started airing right as their owner/founder started spewing u told massive amounts of emissions on his private ***** error rocket launches?

Fox body was one of the ugliest cars ever. Can't believe they built them as long as they did, but, small body/big engine i guess people will buy ugly (like the camaros post 2002)...

And yes, we've got my stepfathers zl1 out in the garage because it was his... but I think it's been driven once since 2019. It's really not that comfortable or enjoyable compared to anything else we own. If he hadn't bought it as his last car I'd have dumped it long long ago.

Take it to a track, a road course, and the car will make a lot more sense. It won't look any different tho. When I see those 2 Mustangs, I really just see a facelift. A bigger one than SN95 to Edge, but not like Edge to S197.

GM is content making boring transportation appliances as long as it puts fat stacks of cash in the bank account.

Aren't all auto manufacturers doing this?

Not just that, how about all the Chinese factories that got spun up and all the dirty old container ships it keeps busy churning from one side of the globe to the next? Yeah Amazon is real awesome for the environment.

Modern GM sucks big balls. Its a gripe I've had for a long time. Somewhere between the mid 90s and late 00s they lost their way and fell into complete mediocrity.

When it comes to classics and old muscle cars, I personally think GM did it best. But in modern times, I'll go Ford or Toyota. Maybe even Chrysler or FCA or Stellantis or whatever tf its called now.

I'd guess my different perspective comes from owning a couple of each. Can't think of any parts that are direct interchange from one onto the other except the transmission on either side of the body change.

When I think face-lift you keep the same platform, frame, suspension, floor, roof, even just a dashpad or something. But when it's it's clean sheet new design I consider it different.

To me a face-lift would be a 73-80 to 81-87 squarebody where most of the metal carried over, and drivetrains could drop from one to another and plug and play. Things like that. Heck, even the redesigned metal could swap between em. Or the 97 to 98 firebird.

Or in the Mustang sense, the 2015-17 vs the 2018-up where taillamps/bumpers/hoods/fenders changed but the passenger cabin metal was basically the same.

Could just be I use the term in a different sense as well.

oh they all are but GM's just not looking to offer anything spirited for the money compared to the rest of the big three's offerings.mopar's hitting the muscle car war theme on the head and ford's still got a pulse.Government Motors is doing their own thing.nothing stays the same..

I was a GM only man for 30 plus years. Last two vehicle my wife went with a 2014 Charger RT AWD and I went with an 2015 F250. So far I dont regret either purchase. Both were new off the lot. We bought a warrenty for the Dodge and it has paid for itself. The Ford has had zero problems.

All new cars and trucks are all over priced and only come one way
What happen to walking into a dealer and ordering what you want.
And whats with GM getting rid of the solid axle In the suburban for the 2021

I've read some articles about Ford going back to the made to order system at least in part, due to losing too much on incentives to buy certain slow moving models.

As far as I’m concerned GM stopped making trucks in 2006 , F37ABF1F-CD1E-49C4-AAD1-AAE8A6D8F72E.jpeg
The camaro is ok but I’ll never afford a new one , that goes double for the vette
So new GM ,boring or not, is not going to happen at my house
