Headlight Issues

So it was all in the switch. So in theory if I power the low relay with a jumper to the battery and no high glow then I know it's my switch too.

There are lots of people with this same problem. I had the same problem as well. I did some looking on the web and found out there is a big problem with the headlight switch when we all do the headlight upgrade. It seems the new headlights put undo stress on the headlamp switch. The fix is a new wiring harness that must be installed. It comes with new headlamp connectors and two relays already wired into the harness. It's pretty straight forward on how it gets wired and eliminates all of the problems associated with this upgrade. I provided a link below, but if you search the web for (4651 headlamp upgrade troubleshooting) or something close to that, it seems to pull up several places selling the new wiring harness kit for around $30. Good luck and I hope this info was helpful.

well why would i have this problem, being that im running a relay harness that powers the lights directly from the battery and only uses the factory stuff to trigger the relays.

the switch is 3 decades old which could be one reason

Even though the sealed beams had no issue?

my switch worked fine but the dimmer for the dash lights has dead spots in it and there's no reason for that problem....it's just old and a new switch is only about $15

Wierd thing with mine is I'd I pull the high relay they are still barely lit

I'll check tonight

When I disconnect the left hand low all the others stay on. Remember I have power direct from battery to 2 relays.

My relays are trigger ed by the main harness above where the charcoal canister was. I cut the harness and light green for highs I believe and tan for lows. Even with the light green disconnected all together the highs still barely burn.
