hi i wanted to get a 5.3L for my 84 SS...is that ls 5.3 a truck engine or a car engine? lol i hope i dont sound like an idiot, ive seen people put truck engines in cars

I do believe vfn has a 2" hood

I had to use a quarter inch spacer on the front of mine so it wouldnt hit when I turned lock to lock. I use 235's up front and 275's in the rear. I want to lower mine as well but will have to use the poor mans method and use some springs from the salvage yard. Anyone know what springs we could use.

Nah I don't. Just a tweaked passenger fender. I've found the best place to find body parts us rampart.com or car-part.com or something like that. It's an online junkyard inventory nationwide.

I want to try and run 275/60/15 on the back of mine. Just don't know if they will fit. My 15x8 have 4" backspace

For lowering I have a set of hotchkis lowering spring I'm going to install on all 4 corners. I'm going to be selling my moroso trick rear springs, they will get it nice and low

i probably could have gone 275 but i didnt want any issues. i need smaller tires up front, they rub if i turn full lock. how much did those moroso springs lower yours? mine looks low, but i've been under it and they're the stock springs, i guess they're just really worn out, i'm scared i'm going to buy new drop springs and still be sitting the same height! lol...

Thats my question as well. What did it come out of and are you using the factory harness and computer. Also I see your going to change intakes as well. So are you going to go to a carb set up now and if so why. I want to do a 5.3 thats carb'd as well. Very nice ride though. 😀

it is the truck engine.came out of an 02 silverado. also has the 4L60e trans. runs off of the stock truck ecu but it has a hp tuners live tune on it. mine has a small cam in it, sounds mean. i'm wanting to change the manifold but i'll be keeping the fuel injection.

heres the manifold on my buddys turbo build truck:

and heres the same kind of manifold but switched to carb:

he had the fuel injector holes filled to run the carb set-up. there is a decent hp gain going this route, but you lose some of the computer tune-ability once you do this. lose mpg's as well. my car is a daily driver, and i enjoy the good gas mileage. being able to make adjustments to the ecu and fuel trims with a few mouse clicks is a nice advantage in my opinion.

a little more info on that is that the stock intake from the car platform ls is shorter than that of a truck giving a little more hood clearance. also the truck platform is a better suited platform due to the cars oil pan will more than likely hit the engine cross member as the truck is more like oldschool oil pan. going to be swapping in a 6.o and 4l80e tans to my bu next spring.

How well did those 275/60/15 fit under there. What were the backspacing on the wheels. You don't know how bad I want to run them in the back

the intake manifold on my car right now is the stock truck manifold. the one i'm looking at getting (the one posted in the pics) is an edelbrock victor jr. and its taller than the truck manifold once you run the throttle body elbow, like the one on the turbo truck picture i posted.

the 275 rubbed a little, had to take the fender trim off the back, but i'm not sure of the backspacing on the pro stars. i bet you can fit them on the corvette wheels, might have to run a spacer on the passenger side to keep from rubbing the frame. i went 255 because i knew for sure i wouldn't have any trouble with them and i was right. i'll be keeping 275's on my prostars though, a little rubbing doesn't bother me, i only put them on when i go to the strip.
