Just to follow up Ritter. It was the local part and the oil gauge is hooked up.

All I need to do now is prime the oil pump, set the timing and fire the motor for the first time.
Exciting!!!

Thanks again.

just in case you weren't aware to prime the oil you'll need to use the housing from a distributor to lubricate the valve train and build up pressure...we always had a old distributor with just the bare shaft at the top so we could put a drill on it

Ya, I bought a tool that fits in my drill and goes in the distributor hole.

does it have the distributor housing?....you need the housing to get the oil into the valve train

it's got the piece with the valley to oil the valve train but $42.99 plus shipping over the border is kind of expensive when you could have picked up an old distributor for $15-20

I think I paid $20 or less and got it shipped with a bunch of other stuff. That was just the first one I found with a picture. Mine is likely not a brand name one but it is blue like the one in the picture. lol.

I didn't know the trick to use an old distributor when I bought it. I have an old distributor on my garage floor right now from a 305 that came out of a parts car.
