I also had to add 1" spacers to the rear of the shifter base. I used pieces of square tubing to raise the rear of the shifter to make it level.
.
Is there a floor shifter in the car currently, or is a column shift car?
If there's a factory floor shift in the car, you could generally use the existing shift mounting bracket to mount the aftermarket shifter. It's quite straight forward.

Nice interior! You don't get to see those seats that often. Your swap to an aftermarket shifter should be straight forward. Like Scott said, it would entail trimming your console shift plate...and you'll probably have to drill a new hole for your shift cable.
I still have the directions to install that particular shifter.
Oh, and another thing to keep in mind....Pontiacs use a longer shift handle due to the construction of the GP type console being higher, or deeper than the other G-body cars.
So, in your case, you might have to fab up a few spacers, or brackets to bring the new shifter up higher in the console.
It will entail some fitting.

Rare night rider seats !!! Very nice and highly desirable!!

Welcome aboard! It's always nice to see another GP join our ranks.

While my Roadkill-style project isn't nearly as fancy as some other cars here, I do have my own build thread. Perhaps it will give you a few ideas.

(Yes, I realize I'm a little late to the welcome party. I don't always peruse the new member forum. Sorry.)

Cool car. Don't turn down a 200r4, it's a good transmission in it's own right. I mean, if the GNs used em...
And while Chevy 350s are nice, cheap, plentiful, and can be powerful, why not an olds, or a pontiac 350? I kid, but it sounds like a fun project.

Welcome to the sight, you most definitely came to the right place.
Can't wait to see the progress on your new GP, which happens to be my favorite also
