I had to buy a dipstick for old 2010 Dodge Challenger with the Nag 1 5 spd, just a plug on the end. Our 2017 8 spd has no dipstick that I can see. It is the wave of the future.
It's crazy. My 2010 GMC truck has a dipstick, but the 2010 Camaro SS does not.

If you think about it, how many of todays average drivers even know how to check the transmission fluid? I had a guy at work try to ad trans additive to his Baja & put in the differential fill tube. So why have one when most don't know how to use it. Also it helps with revenue making as the trans either is good or dead.

It's not the size of your dipstick that matters, It's how you use it!!!

;)

TURNA somehow nailed it:banana:

On a sidenote, Mercedes-Benz started charging like 150$ extra for an optional engine oil dipstick somewhere around 2001, other than that checking the oil level is only done via electronic sensors.

he sounds like the same guy I sent to the plant tool store to get a long weight (wait) when I was working aircraft. They made him wait 10 minutes before they said the long wait had expired

I bought a built 350 TH. From Performance Automatic last year , the locking dipstick that came with it fit great, was perfect height too.

Which reminds me of an old salt story: When I first got to my temporary duty station waiting for Nuclear Power School in the Navy, I was stationed aboard the USS Mahan (DDG-42) undergoing an overhaul in Philly Shipyard. I was a Machinist's Mate and got stuck in Aux Division (A-div). The old guys would dupe us young'ns by telling us to go to the boiler room to ask the boiler techs (BT's) to get a special tool called a "BT Punch" (you know where that was going). Or a bucket of steam. Well, this other guy got asked for a bucket of steam so off he went. Came back with a steel bucket he was carrying using hot work gloves. The bucket was hot as hell, and had a wet towel over the top of it. Darned if he didn't set it down in front of our leading 1st and lift back the towel and "poof", there was this big billow of steam that came out of the bucket. Never seen that done before or since. Smart fella right there. They were so impressed that they didn't mess with him again.

Sorry, I digress....

I tried looking up new GM trans dipsticks/tubes. Found the numbers but you can't find them anywhere. I can't anyway. Even used ones.

We had a guy who put a bid in & got the meter service tech job in our shop & didn't know how to use a screw driver, the main tool he'll use. He was 36 to boot. He is now in another shops' store room.
