I am new to this 87 Salon and haven't driven it much yet . It's in excellent condition and has been checked over for worn parts . The last drive last fall I was able to get on express way for first time and discovered a high speed vibe . I replaced u-joints first thing as they were originals. The tires were old and a couple were worn bad so the first thing I did was replace the tires a week ago . The vibe is still there . I went back to tire store and they rechecked tires and wheels . There's one with a little run out but it doesn't seem like much to me . More of a vibe than a bounce starts most at 60mph and up . Just checking in here to see if there's a common issue with this model other than wheels /tires tire balance to trouble shoot ? It has around 85,000 original miles and has been well taken care of . Thanks for any leads to check first !!!

Where do you feel it? Seat of your pants or steering wheel? Vibrations that happen at a faster rate (frequency) but are not violent are usually drivetrain related. Axle, rear end, driveshaft, etc. Nothing common besides u-joints...

It feels like the whole car but it's more likely in drive train .If I had to describe it from other cars I've driven with a bad u-joint I would say seems close to that vibration ! I haven't checked it yet with it on jack stands and in gear to spin the rears up to speed .

Worn or old front suspension can cause this. I had a Cutlass Supreme that started vibrating once I hit 60. Check ball joints too.

The factory manual has a troubleshooting guide for this very thing as well as a driveshaft balancing procedure using some hose clamps.

put the rear axle up on axle stands and have someone get in the car to bring it up to 60 mph and see what is shaking
