Your right.

The sump setup is mostly for drag racers. When you accelerate, all the fuel sloshes towards the back of the tank which is the reason you want the pump outlets there.
Of course on a street car without baffling this might cause problems if you run the tank low.

I agree that it's a nice set up for a drag racer, I was thinking of a daily driver....

WOW!! Thanks for your input fellas! Really appreciate it. The ride is really just a sunday toy. It doesnt see much road action during the week...@ shotgun--Thanks for the photo's. OOWEEE! Thats a mean setup. I'll have a look at the mallory pumps. I can roll with my mechanical Edelbrock for now and save a lil loot for the better pump. I just liked the way the bracket and polished regulator looks from Holley. Unless I can use the Mallory pump with the Holley regulator?? Or do these parts have to be matched up? I'll do a lil more investigating and reading up before I make the move on it. Im trying to keep the bay as clean of wires and hoses as possible.... I got it on the return line. Weld it on the opposite side of the tank(like my diagram) nice and low and in-line with the sump. Man I really appreciate the help 😀

Thanks again fellas!

Whats going on warren, I'm actually doing the same thing right now. When i get off today I'm headed straight to a welding and having a sump welded on a new tank. I have the Mallory 140 pump but i have the 12-803 regulator, but i'm looking to go the return route as well. I started a thread a while ago on where to mount a electric pump. This is where i have mine now

I'm really not sure if this is a good spot to mount it. Its mounted just under the quater window. If you have any other ? i'm glad to help with any info i can provide.

@ uneek1976---Thanks for your input and pic! I think Ive got a handle on it now from all the help you guys have given me. I'll shoot you a pm if I run into any probs. I decided to roll with the same Mallory pump you have. I saw a vid on utube where the guy compared the noise level of the Blue and the Mallory pumps. Mallory wins!! Really quiet pump. An I can run the Holley bypass-return line style regulator with it. That was one of my main concerns. I like the Holley bracket that holds the regulator. The bracket fits my style of carb and flows with the red, polished and black theme I have goin on. Came into some cash and can afford to get the mallory pump now. I also need to checkup on how my tank is doing. Thanks again for all the help and suggestions fellas. I'll post up some pics in this thread as I get things goin..

What a HUUUGE difference!! I'm thinking about adding a Barry Grant inline fuel heat sink. Probably overkill for my lil setup but Ive drawn a diagram (or 2  ) up. Have a look and tell me what you guys think... The heat sink probably has to be ran with the BG fuel pump (in loop)...Hmmmm

I havent figured out a spot for it yet. But Im swapping my twisted up (long story) 7.5 rear out for my built 8.5 3.73 posi Grand national rear in the morn. With the car up, I'll be able to have a good look for the perfect spot. There's a speed shop in my area, and I'll get the pump and filters and lines and do some mocking up. Thanks again for the help and input...I'll keep pics coming along for others that may have the same ?'s about all this.

Not sure the first diagram will even work??

The second one looks better.

The filter needs to be before the reg, not after like you show.Put it where the BG heatsink is. Never needed or used one (heatsink) so in my opinion save your money.

Why 2 gauges in the same line????

I added a post about my fuel system here: viewtopic.php?t=17295&p=127743#p127743
