fuel pressure regulator, tune for accelerator pump, then change secondary jets last. assuming carb is functioning as it should, correct timing, good vacuum readings etc

#1 problem 4psi not enough fuel pressure for top end.

I bet its a combination of fuel pressure, timing, and accelerator pump shot/cam.

it seems something is makin the pump strain it makes alot of niose and changes the sound every few seconds i cant imagine its supposed to sound like that. i removed the pickup screen in the tank and put a fuel filter inbetween the pump and the tank. could the filter cause the pump to be straining to pull the fuel? and also the gauge jumps around alot sommetimes down to 2lbs then it will go up to 9lbs. any ideas?? i gotta get the pressure right before i can try to adjust anything else

try replacing all the fuel line. there might be a small blockage in the line.

And while your at it, why not a bigger diameter line.

it shouldnt need anything bigger than 3/8ths line (i doubt the engine makes 400 hp or even near it). ill try replacing the line with some rubber line to now to see if it works then.

ok i tested the lines i unhooked the lines comin out of the pump and put a rubber line goin to a empy gas can. then i turned the pump on and in 15-20 seconds if that it pushed 3/4 of a gallon in to the can. then i hooked the line back up and did the same test at the end of the fuel line in the engine bay and it pushed the same amount. it seems like the pump is fine and so are the lines but something in the regulator is weird or the guage is bad. or the way i just tested it was a waste of time lol im not sure but i would think 3/4 of a gallon would feed my bbc very easily for 20 seconds.

I don't know if that pump you have has any problems noted, BUT Mr. Gasket products are know for not producing advertised results on a bunch of products, therefore i wouldn't spend a dime on a Mr. Gasket anything.

They can't make a thermostat right so a fuel pump probally would be worse.
