You can't seriously be surprised that a car that looks like that (no offense intended, I've owned much worse looking ones), unregistered, on a public street for 90 days was towed?
I mean, glad you got it all sorted out, and I'm a wagon guy, but it's a miracle you got it back.
Magic eraser will clean the grime that the car wash doesn't get off. Had to do mine that way...I figured it hadn't been really washed (not just rainstorm washed) in probably 10 years..
