just depends on which exact year for which is rarer. the two rarest 442's are probably the '80 442 w30 and the '85 white 442. there were around 2800 '79 hursts made, i believe and about 3000 83 and 84 hursts made, with the rarest being w/o t tops or with sunroof instead of t tops

but they're all fairly rare

Total production figures for 442 of the 1985 year was 3,000, '86 was 4273 and '87 was 4208.

As rare as it may seem that they should be I think there are more left than we realize. I think people knew that the car was going to be iconic and took care of the 4000+ made each year. When I was in high school I had a 82 cutlass with a chevy 355 and I loved that car. down the ally from our house was a guy that has a 86 or 87 442 I lusted for that car drooling at it every time I walked past it. A few years ago i decided I was time for me to buy a car just like it. The search didnt take but a day to find one localy which tells me they arnt that rare. I had a harder time finding a hybrid ford escape for my family driver a few months ago.

probably just lucked out, they arent quite that easy to find. a person couldn't find one that quick each and everyday..u simply lucked out. there's not a huge abundance of any gbody cutlass' left, lots got scraped or are nw race cars(this is in my neck of woods anyway )..everytime i get on ebay theres only like 10 total out of all the 78-87 cutlass.

if you consider the low production numbers, then take into account how many have been wrecked, rusted out, parted out and scraped for their rear ends there cant be much more then maybe half of them left... i just talked to a guy that parts g bodies out the other day and he mentioned that he had cut up 3 of them for race car bodies and sodl the rears seperate..... sad! i am constanly looking for them for sale, they are out there but they are dissapearing daily it seems. just search the forums and you will se how many have been parted out. the hurst olds seems like they are much more appreciated and there are more of them around because of it.
