I'd like to see a build sheet for that car, to see all of the options that were installed at the factory.
How rare is the factory sunroof?

Didn't catch the columb shifter. Without buildsheet or VIN it's anybody's guess how it came from the factory.
You could get a Malibu with a steel sun roof in 78 and 79 only. Very rare option. I have seen 3 79's. This is the first 78 I have seen with one. However many were made, the survival rate is very low. All of the cars I have seen with a sun roof have been 4 speeds and well optioned ones at that.
This looks like it was a well optioned car; Landau, 4 speed, gauge package, rear defroster, sport mirrors with remote right side. Yeah it is probably for the best that it is on the other side of the country for me as well. I kinda have a thing for high optioned 78's 😉

The 3 79's I have seen are the black and silver one owned by a guy named Jim in Arizona.
There was one on Craigslist about 3 years ago in New England, It was 4 speed car that was mostly apart. It was bought by a guy named Eric Ragis who posts on Malibu Racing. He cut the roof off and put it on another car.
The 3rd one was a dark blue one for sale for $8500 back this in September/October in the Buffalo, NY area. It was a highly optioned car that someone put 78-79 Z28 louvers in the front fenders and had a late model 454 engine in it with a 4 speed. It needed a complete cosmetic restoration. The ad was removed so I am not sure if it sold or the person changed their mind.

We had a white 79 in for a "resto" at a shop I worked in back in 98/99. I tried to buy it, but the woman had some emotional attachment to it. It was a fair/rough car when it came in. She pulled it out of the shop after the straightening was done, had a big blowup with the son it was supposed to be going to. Have never seen it again
looks like it has or had power windows and locks based on the amount of wires sticking out from the door.
i too am glad its too far away. i'm starting to feel like the "crazy cat lady" of gbodies. lol
