I was just wondering what the easiest way to install a dipstick tube is. I have tried it once already, and ruined the tube. What I tried the first time was putting a smaller wrench around a lip towards the bottom of the tube to drive it in. What that ended up doing was tearing of that lip because the tube did not want to budge.

Is their any tricks out their that I do not know of? By the way this is an Olds 350.

is this a gm tube?

the gm tube has 2 or 3 smaller ribs, these are what go down into the block. the widest rib sits against the block. it wasn't any big deal installing it in my 425. i used a wood block and hammer while holding the tube. i use a soft-setting sealer on the ribs, so there's no oil seepage.

some have had luck with putting the tube in a freezer, others have resorted to the grinder method.

is the hole for the tube clean?

Yes it is a GM tube. The hole was clean from what I can see, but I will try cleaning it out again just to make sure. If I remember right the first tube I tried looked like the one you explained. I guess I will try the freezer trick and some sealant to see if it will work. Thanks for the info.
