How to remove and install distributor gear?

With a little force. It's just stuck. Confirm that the new gear has the correct inside diameter - they aren't all the same.

Its a new distributor that someone installed a bronze gear on it and I'm wanting to put the original melonized gear back on it,how do I remove the bronze gear that won't come off i have the pin out?

Hold onto the rotor in one hand and put a small set of channel locks on the gear with your other hand and twist.

Be sure the pin is completely removed.

Can you post a pic - doesn't sound like everything is copacetic.

Here is the picture pin is clearly out and if I get it off with channel locks how does the new gear goes on does it have to be pressed on or what?Thanks

Make sure you put the gear on correctly, the dimple on the gear lines up with the rotor.
Uh oh. I didn't do that. What is the outcome that should have occurred if I got it backward?

Might go on by hand. Might need lightly tapped with a hammer. Lightly.
