To be honest, that reinforcement is just about garbage now have lost so much rigidity from all those holes. All you needed to do was stand it on end and stuff a stick down the middle.

Yes, there's guys who run just export brackets or aluminum struts. Doesn't make it a good idea, that metal was needed to meet crash standards. As strong or thick as you think that chrome shell is, it'll slice in half on its own in an impact. All those holes make a myriad of weak points to just fold over.

Now that's just my opinion, run what you want. But cutting away structural reinforcement metal is never a good idea.

While it is weaker, I don't think his life is in danger any more than before. Those things tear like tin foil in a real wreck.

The aluminum are worse than the steel, and I've seen some of both so corroded on a number of the hundreds I chopped and/or rebuilt that photo sized sheets of metal could be broken off by hand.

Still, you need all the help you can get, especially given the lack of unibody structure in the front end. When the bumper doesn't absorb force, that sheet metal collapses in on itself if you look at it funny.
