My son wanted a new hood (Sunoco hood) for his '86 Regal. He has wanted a Glasstek hood. He asked me about how close Glasstek was to Byron Dragway and was wondering if we might be able to pick it up during Drag Week to save the $280 of shipping and handling. Then he asked if I wanted a hood as well and mentioned he'd buy it for me if we could get them picked up, implying no shipping. So two hoods shipped would be $1560, but two hoods picked would be $900 that includes the friends and family discount of he was buying two at the same time. All of this took place more than 3 months ago because that is how backed up they were to get the hoods made.Hey Jim! Explain the new hood. Lol

I told him 'no troubles, we/re building a trailer so I'll make some type of system to mount the hoods on top of the trailer. Which I did - I used an extra hood latch we had and welded it to a 1x1 square tube that I bolted onto the top of trailer and also made a bracket that would accept hood hinges for the rear of the Regal hood (MC and Regal hoods do not have the same mounting locations and hood hinges.) Then we were planning on attaching the two hoods together via bubble wrap and shrink wrap. This is where te plan went to hell in a hand basket. I overlooked the hood design and there was no way to get the two secured to each other. This resulted in an immediate conundrum. My solution was why don't we install the MC hood on my car and then shrink wrap the Regal hood to my stock original hood. At this point my son asked me f I wanted the old hood. 'Hmmm, we have at least 5 spare hoods at home, do I want 6 - no'. We gave it to the people at Glasstek and they promptly disposed of it in the meta dumpster.
Now we have to get the new hood mounted. It requires fitment (clearancing.) The guys at Glasstek jumped into action and spent an hour getting the hood to fit on the car. It needs hood pins or some type of securement on the front corners, hence the reason for tape in the pics in the videos.

The result s one hood on top of the trailer and one hood on the car and one to never be heard from again (it was crappy, so no one flip out about me throwing one out.)
Because the original hood had my 'Powered by Miller Lite decal on it, I figured I better pay homage to the source of some my inspirationView attachment 183945View attachment 183946
