I am insane to not take less than $1000 for my 88 Cutlass?

My Regal is wearing it's original paint, has all the trim, not a speck of rust anywhere on the car, and it's been an Iowa car all it's life! I tried to sell it for 1500 like you did a while back, and the highest offer I got was 800. I mean c'mon. You wouldn't be able to find another car like this if you tried. It even still had the original radio in it, spare, and jack! Some people man. Always trying to get something for nothing.

You know you are in trouble when trying to sell and you get that "I do not mean to insult you" tone from the buyer. Problem is they are.

We all want a good deal both ways when buying or selling, but some buyers are just trying to rip you off. Some think they are car flippers after watching Fast and Loud and in my opinion are just plain idiots. You are right they want something for nothing to turn it around and make the money off your car you should have. And of course these type of buyers are "experts" and we do not know a thing! Please!

Like I said earlier we all want a good deal but in this day and age the ripoff artists are alive and well and we just need to be able to hold on a price we want and give them the "take it or leave it" speech. Someone will come along eventually where we get our price and they get a nice car or project.

When I'm selling something I have a bad habitat of telling buyers exactly what I think at the same time it let's them know I will break there grill! My price is my price don't like it gfys cut and dry. Shore it's harsh but I'm busy and don't have time to waste on BS so I make that very clear it's not like I ask a lot of money in the first place if I know I have something worth real money I use an auction. Seems to work for me

I don't know what your car looks like.

Just keep in mind if the car isn't "built" most are buying these cars as a shell for there engine trans rims and tire combo.

I'm not saying you should drop the price down.

Especially if the guy is going to come to your house and call you names.

Sounds like you should have got out your Bigfoot call tree whacking stick and hit him a few times with it.

Since my daughter fried the 2004R in my 70, I considered selling my 88 Cutlass Supreme Classic Brougham. My car is far from perfect so I started at $1500. I decided not to go below $1000. I got called Midas because I wouldn't take 800 since it didn't have original paint or include the factory rally rims. I guess $500 of tires with other new parts aren't enough, good grief.
The right buyer just didn't come along yet. $1k in just about any condition is a great deal considering what some people ( me included) are willing to pay for the smallest GM parts. If you have the time, sell it piece by piece. 🙂

If I am buying something and the guys drops the price too quickly I walk away.
Don't be so quick. I got this beauty for 600 bucks... 😛 Shame I sold it. Rode like a dream after I fixed the... entire front end.

based on that picture you paid too much
Jokes. Anywho, the heads alone are worth 1000, and that's what I sold it for. And truth be told, I actually only paid 300. My neighbor had a crush on my mom at the time (I was 17) and he loaned me 300 bucks because he was into cars too and knew I could pay him back. Put 450 in new front end and maintenance parts includings two new lcas, (after the front BJ ripped off the lca, see picture), had the blown out holley rebuilt and tuned for free. Plus two new front tires. I could've sold it for double, but I banana'd a pushrod doing burnouts and I was tired of messing with it. The car was just old, abused, ridden hard and put away wet long before I got it. At least I gave it some life before it got gutted for the 11:1 429 with the D0VE-C heads and probably scrapped. Those cars in so-so shape still go for about 5 grand. I've seen as high as 30 for a concours car.
